Distillerie Blackmint, only remaining professional distillery in the Swiss Val-de-Travers, the valley where authentic Absinthe was invented and surviving prohibition in the underground, was kept alive by Yves Kübler and his partner. Yves, 4th generation of the Kübler master-distillers dynasty who founded the brand in 1863, has Absinthe in his genes and his blood.
Thanks to his visions and efforts Blackmint became home again for the living tradition of the famous brand “Absinthe Kübler”. Step by step Blackmint has reached its goal. Starting with the exceptional Apéritif anisé “La Rincette” and going further with the tightrope walking product “Extrait d'Absinthe Kübler”, the Blackmint Distillery was able to feed the Swiss market with a genuine Green Fairy “Absinthe Kübler 53 % vol.” from the first day onward when the ban was lifted 1st of March, 2005. Yves Kübler's Blackmint Distillery was also the first distillery in Switzerland who offered the Real Thing according to the family's old recipe to the international markets and was first in the U.S.A. As genuine Absinthe was forbidden but never forgotten in the region of its historical birthplace, Blackmint can rely on all background and traditions possible a famous and authentic brand is based on. Yves Kübler and his Blackmint Distillery never wanted to create a fancy or artificial (marketing) product but to bring back Absinthe Kübler (...which he considered “stolen from his ancestors”...) to connoisseurs worldwide.
